The National Museum of History in Sofia displays a collection of over a half million artifacts throughout Bulgarian history. Visiting this attraction can give you an understanding of the history and culture of Bulgaria and its people. It is one of the major museums present in the Balkan states. The building is a typical example of Soviet-era construction, and the Byzantine, Greek and Roman columns and statues create an enthralling atmosphere for visitors. The museum has preserved Bulgarian history from the Thracian time to WW-I and WW-II.
The National Museum of History is less than a 20-minute drive from the city center of Sofia. There is a free parking lot at the entrance of the museum. You can also take public trolleybuses or get there from the blue metro line.
