With over 130 years of history, the Grape Harvest festival of Mendoza is considered as one of the best festivals in the world, equal to the Rio Carnival and Venice festival. Over 70,000 people come to Mendoza to be part of this festival, along with the locals from various provinces to celebrate the grape harvests and the various events related to it. Although the central act at the Greek theatre is the main event, there are a number of local events where you can enjoy wine, traditional food, colours, parades, laser shows, folk performances and a lot more. The floats and queen election are one of a kind events exclusively for the Grape Harvest festival. The central act is a spectacular show of dances, light shows, and arts with participation from about 1,500 actors and dancers. The wine festival also combines traditional practices including fruit offerings to the image of the Virgin of Carrodilla and to the patron saint of Vineyards. The parade and the central act is watched by over 200,000 people.
The Frank Romano-Greek Theatre is 6 km away from the city center. Fare is 264 ARS.
The Grape Harvest is celebrated in the months of December, January, February, and March. However, the main events are celebrated in February and March.
