Reserva Natural Villavicencio is located about 50 km from Mendoza city. The views en route to this reserve are stunning. You may come across a variety of wild animals and rare plant species. A rented car is always nice so that you can travel at your convenience. Guided tours are also worth it. There is an old Norman style hotel situated in the mountains inside the park which was looted by the Junta Militia in 1976. It gives immense insight and knowledge about the historic importance of the destination. The old hotel and its gardens are very beautiful. Part of the hotel is an old chapel which also holds an ancient fresco of the 'Last Supper.' The reserve is also famous for mineral springs and an old factory related to it. The foothills of the Andes and the Monument of Canota is yet another breath-taking experience. The Caracoles viewpoint will give spectacular views of the mountains and reserve.
