Convento y Basílica de San Francisco is one of the oldest churches in Mendoza that survived the 1968 earthquake. The church is dedicated to the Virgin of Cuyo and holds the remains of San Martin and his family. The visitors pay their tributes to San Martin and offer their prayer to the Virgin of Cuyo. The church was built in 1875. Almost all the remains after the earthquake have been preserved as it is. In addition to certain modern amenities and constructions, the church preserves its Neo-roman style of architecture. The church offers a divine atmosphere and is worth a visit to those who are interested in divinity and history. Originally built by the Franciscan community in the 17th Century, the Basilica was declared a national monument in 1938.
