The Palacio Barolo is perhaps the most striking building in entire Buenos Aires. Built as a homage to the great Italian poet Dante, the 22-story building was once the tallest in entire South America. The building was commissioned by a rich Italian immigrant, Luis Barolo, who admired Dante quite a bit. So, he hired an Italian architect, Mario Palenti, to design a building inspired by Dante's masterpiece, Divine Comedy. The result is the mysteriously attractive Palacio Barolo. The building - a fusion of art styles: neo-romantic, art nouveau, and Asian-Indian revival - is divided into three sections: basement and first floor represent hell, floors, 1-14 purgatory, and 15-22, heaven. Book the guided tour and go to the top of this architectural marvel. Heavenly views are guaranteed.
