About Floralis Generica

You may have seen plenty of flowers natural an artificial in your life but nothing can beat the excellence of architecture as the  Floralis Generica. The structure made of steel, aluminum, reinforced concrete, this gargantuan sculpture bloomed in 2002, courtesy Argentine architect Eduardo Catalano. The flowers give the look of blooming flower with its six petals facing the sky Located in the Plaza of the United Nations in Recoleta neighborhood, the metal flower towers 23-ft. high above the ground. The electronic feature that controls the opening and closing of the structure is a mark of technical brilliance. But the most impressive feature of this metal flower is that it opens at 8 am and closes at sunset regularly and once closed it glows red. What an extraordinary feature in a man-made metal flower. On four special nights - May 25, Sept 21, Dec 24 and Dec 31 - the petals stay open.
