The Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve is UAE's first national park and a protected desert environment. The idea behind this 225 square kilometers natural reserve is to keep the heritage of natural beauty in the fast modernizing city alive. The large stretch of desert conserves various species of diminishing flora and fauna. The DDCR is the biggest single piece of land dedicated by the UAE government for enhancing one project. A camel ranch once, this reserve is a must-visit for desert adventures, sand boarding, off-roading, fat bike riding, and many wonder sports.
The conservation desert is around 63 km from Dubai city center and its advisable to take a DDCR tour operator that is licensed for this 45 minutes road travel.
Guided tours from Dubai last anywhere from two to seven hours, depending on the option chosen.
Carry a pair of sunglasses, sunscreen and a hat for sure as there are very few shaded spaces in the reserve.
Drink plenty of water—it’s easy to get dehydrated in this arid environment.
Wear comfortable clothes and shoes, particularly if you’re participating in adventure activities.
