About Korean Folk Village - Yongin

A Folklore of Yore; The Joseon Dynasty - their way of life, their people, their seasonal customs, the Shaman faith, the pastoral music, the Confucian spiritualism; recreated and re-lived for you to go back in time. The Korean Folk Village is for you to learn and think about an era gone by. Here, Time has left her footprints to be traced and retraced until you have been immersed in a unique cultural experience. So, walk down the village street and imagine how those people lived their ordinary lives with joy, sadness, and dignity; how they celebrated their harvests and their weddings; what was their food like; their tryst with their faith - and maybe, you will find something in you that is common with these ancient brethren who lived and loved their lives in the 14th century. This is folk history at its best.

How to reach

The distance from Seoul City Hall, the city center to the village is 36.3 km and will take 2 hours by subway.
You have to get down at Jonggak Station (Seoul Subway Line 1), Exit 3-1. Then take Bus No. 5500-1 and get down at Korean Folk Village 3-way Junction Bus Stop. Then get down at Suwon Station (Seoul Subway Line 1), Exit 5. After that, take Bus No.10-5 or 37 to Korean Folk Village, also called Nagok Village.
One-way subway fare is about 1000 KRW. Buses are also available from Gangnam station. Fare is about 1800 KRW. A direct bus from Seoul City Hall will take you there in 3 hours with a one-way fare of about 47, 160 KRW. A taxi will reach you there in 30 minutes costing about 17, 700 KRW one-way.

  • Don't miss out on a seasonal event.
  • 'Welcome to Joseon' is a special event held in May, which will transport you back in time when Korea was ruled by the Joseon kings.
  • Try a traditional Korean rice cake such as the 'Jeungpyeon' or the 'Injeolm' i. 
  • You might like sampling the green onion pancake called the 'Pajeon'.
  • Watch a traditional wedding ceremony.
  • Buy a souvenir.
  • Take back a bottle of 'Dongdongju' which is traditional Korean liquor. '
  • Interpretation facilities are offered in English, Japanese and Chinese.
  • Restrooms are available.
