About The Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum

Described as the most romantic modern-art museums of Europe, the Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum is a favorite among tourists and locals alike. It is one of the best art galleries in this part of the globe. It displays an eclectic collection of art spread across many gigantic halls and rooms as well as its adjoining park.   • There is an art shop with a wide selection of catalogs, art publications, postcards, souvenirs, and the cozy Art Café, which extends beyond the gallery and allows visitors to sit right on the bank of the Danube.
  • Walk up to the rooftop terrace which offers a unique view of the expansive Danube river and the surrounding landscape.
  • Explore the beautiful sculpture park with more than 60 sculptures installed.

How to reach

Take the bus routes 50, 68, 90, 98, or  210/ trolleybus 4. Buy a ticket for 60 minutes that costs EUR 1.20; this ticket is good for almost all journeys within Bratislava. You can also travel with a ticket for 15 minutes for EUR 0.70 or a ticket for 30 minutes for EUR 0.90. For pets, bicycles or large luggage, you need to purchase a ticket for .35 cents and this is valid for 180 minutes.

If you are going by taxi, take the route from Tomášikova to Trnavská cesta/Route 61 and continue on Route 61. Drive from Route 2 to Čunovo and Drive to your destination in Hamuliakovo. It is 28 km from the city center and will cost you around 16 EUR  to 20 EUR.

Tips

  • There is always a lot of parking space available if you are coming by car.
  • The museum is closed on Mondays, so plan your trip accordingly.
  • The gallery is very spacious and there is a lot to explore. So make sure you are ready to spend at least two to three hours in the museum.
  • It is not very close to Bratislava but is easily accessible via land and water.
  • There are a lot of fun exhibits that kids will enjoy.
  • The place offers a lot of photo opportunities so get your camera ready.
  • Do not touch the art display and installations during your tour. You might get into trouble.
  • Food and drinks are not allowed inside the museum.
  • Pets are not allowed to enter; except for guide dogs.
