About St. Martin's Cathedral

St Martin’s Church, like many other Bratislava churches, was built over the remains of an ancient Romanesque basilica on the edge of the Old Town. The church is a very calibrated landmark and popular tourist spot and has a lot of historic significance. The church’s interior boasts of extravagant Gothic detailing, with various Renaissance and Baroque styles. The soaring wooden altarpiece, the vaulted ceilings in the presbytery, and other ornamentation in the cathedral are examples of fine architecture marvel. The vivid colors of the 19th Century Viennese stained-glass windows, plus the extravagantly Baroque side chapel of St. John makes it one of the top sightseeing and religious spots in Bratislava. Visit the church and travel back in time as you explore this beautiful piece of art.
