About Kamzik Tower

The Kamzík TV Tower sits 437 meters above sea level on the Kamzík hill, overlooking much of the city. The tower is housed within the territory of the Bratislava Forest Park and is 196-meter tall. It was constructed in 1975 and has a public observation deck from where you can see Austria, Hungary and the Czech Republic on a good weather day. There are two floors with an observation deck, the main restaurant (called Altitude), and the bar (called Brasseria). The restaurant has rotating corner sections so you can have a 360-degree panoramic view while you enjoy fine dining there. You can complete your experience by taking the cable car from Kamzik to Zelezna Studnicka which is another forest park and a good spot for family picnics and barbecues. The ride takes only 8 minutes and is very enjoyable with the beautiful scenery below.

The trolley bus 203 ends its route at the Koliba stop which is the closest you can get there via public transportation.

Kamzik hill is 439 meters above sea level. The easiest way to get there is by car, as it is in a forest park.

Buy a public transport ticket for 60 minutes that costs EUR 1.20; this ticket is good for almost all journeys within Bratislava. You can also travel with a ticket for 15 minutes for EUR 0.70 or a ticket for 30 minutes for EUR 0.90. For pets, bicycles or large luggage, you need to purchase a ticket for .35 cents and this is valid for 180 minutes.

Tips

  • Plan a trip to the tower only if the weather is good. Else you will have a hard time walking up the hill.
  • There is a reception on the ground floor where you can get all the information you want.
  • The food at the restaurant is not very authentic, however, the view is breathtaking.
  • The bar is open all day and snacks are also available here.
  • The restaurant is more expensive than the bar.
  • Traveling by taxi is easier than taking the bus as it requires no walking at all.
  • There is a lot of parking space available.
  • The place is hardly very crowded. So you can relax at the restaurant and enjoy the view.
