About Horsky Park

A beautiful hideaway from the busy bustle of city dwellers, Horsky Park is Bratislava's most treasured park. Unlike other landscaped gardens you have ever seen, Horsky Park is unique in its own way. It has an old world charm and will instantly take you back in time as you wander around the vast stretch of this green forest. The park houses a Roman Catholic church – The Church on Calvary, built it in 1943-1948. Walk further and you will see a cross halfway between the church and the cavalry. Next, to the cavalry, you will find this huge spectacular wall with over 4,000 commemorative plates to the Virgin Mary. The Lourdes cave lies right next to this wall, in the charming silence of pure nature. The gamekeeper’s house is also a popular spot in the park where families hang out with children and pets. During summer, various cultural and social events happen here. Further down, you will see ‘Gallery Horsky Park,‘ the only Slovak outdoor gallery, built in 2007, dedicated to the modern Slovak abstract art.

How to reach

There are two ways to get to Horsky Park:

  • Take trolleybus number 207 from the city center. Get off at the 'Horský Park' stop. It takes around 10 minutes. It is a stop on request, therefore press the red STOP button on the bus just before getting off.
  • You can walk up to the park from the SAV on Štefánikova 49 street – it is a 9-minute walk from the Presidential palace – towards the main train station. From here, take the stairs up along the Hlboká cesta street and you will soon get to the forest in the park.

Buy a public transport ticket for 60 minutes that costs EUR 1.20; this ticket is good for almost all journeys within Bratislava. You can also travel with a ticket for 15 minutes for EUR 0.70 or a ticket for 30 minutes for EUR 0.90. For pets, bicycles or large luggage, you need to purchase a ticket for .35 cents and this is valid for 180 minutes.
