About Bratislava Zoo

Bratislava zoo is a pleasant scenery of Mlynska valley surrounded by green forest, meadows and winding streams. It houses more than 700 mammals, 200 birds, and 40 reptiles. There is a lot to discover here. The Bratislava zoo is an exciting and fun place to explore. The zoo has been renovated and there are quite a few new additions, the Primate Pavilion being one of them, which simulates a natural forest environment. You can see wild animals like leopards, lions, rhinos, giraffes, monkeys, and zebras in their natural habitat. DINOPARK is another major attraction of the zoo and is very appealing. Stretching three hectares, this amusement park accommodates models of different species of dinosaurs in spaces resembling their natural environment. Some dinos even move and make sounds and can be very exciting for kids and grown-ups alike. There is also a 3D cinema and a paleontology playground on the premises. You can get refreshments and relax at the Dinocafe.

How to reach

By Bus: 
Take the city buses number 30, 31, 32 or from the central railway station, 37, 39, 92. Trolleybus number 4 or 2 will also take you to the zoo. 
You can get a ticket for 60 minutes that costs EUR 1.20; this ticket is good for almost all journeys within Bratislava. You can also travel with a ticket for 15 minutes for EUR 0.70 or a ticket for 30 minutes for EUR 0.90. For pets, bicycles or large luggage, you need to purchase a ticket for .35 cents and this is valid for 180 minutes.


By Car: 
It is a 20 minutes drive via Route 572. Take Riazanská to Hálkova, then drive along Kukučínova to Šancová/Route 572. Continue on Route 572. Take Mlynská Dolina to Staré Grunty in Karlova Ves. Drive 350 meters to reach the zoo.

Tips

  • Keep your entrance ticket during your visit. It is your insurance against injury.
  • Opening hours at the zoo vary depending on the season. Please leave the area a few minutes before closing time.
  • The person in charge of the group is responsible for the safety and behavior of all group members. 
  • Serious incidents are to be reported at the reception or ticket office such as injuries, loss of things, etc.
  • Dogs are not allowed in the Zoo due to health and safety reasons of the zoo animals. Exceptions are guide and assistance dogs.
  • Within the Zoo area, you have to move on foot. Exceptions are tricycles, children push cars, prams, and wheelchairs. 
  • Following safety rules, taking into account climate conditions, while using playgrounds and other attractions within the Zoo grounds. 
  • All noisy objects, players, fireworks and other objects that might endanger or disturb the animals or visitors are not allowed into the Zoo. 
  • DO NOT knock on glass, cages, and bars - animals are very disturbed by this, they may panic and hurt themselves by trying to escape the enclosure.  
  • Keep the zoo and surroundings clean. Use dustbins to put away the garbage.
  • Do not touch the animals, do not stick your hands into cages and through bars, do not climb through barriers. Any attempt of direct contact with animals can be life-threatening.
  • Do not feed the animals. Each species in the zoo has a well-defined diet. Outside food can make the animals sick. 
  • Aggressive persons, persons under the influence of alcohol or other drugs that harass or threaten other visitors will be ordered to leave the Zoo premises.
