About Al-Qarah Mountain 

This enchanting mountain is located in Al-Ahsa (Al-Qara village) and is known for its beauty. The mountain is considered one of the most famous places in Al-Ahsa. The highlight of the cave is that it was believed to be the place where Judas hid after betraying Christ. The cave also a natural wonder. The amazing thing about this cave is that the inside temperature is low during the summer season and high during the winter season. There are different types and shapes of sedimentary rock formations. The caves are well lit, there is a mosque, restaurants, and cafes on the premises. The surroundings of the mountain also offer wonderful landscapes with mixed rocks and sand creating an infinite variety of shades of beige, brown, and other colors depending on the time of the day and the sunlight. It is a different kind of place to visit. It is truly an epitome of Nature and with a mix of modern technology makes it a wonderful place to explore with family and friends.

How to reach

It is 156 km from the city center. One can hire a taxi or use own personal vehicle.

There are no meters in Saudi Arabian taxis, so the price must be agreed in advance. As most drivers do not speak English, one should ask an Arabic speaker to order a taxi for you.

  • Photography is allowed
  • Best time to visit is during the winters as the days are comparatively less hot
  • Guides are not available to give more information
  • Take care of the kids inside the caves as in some places the caves are not lit
  • Restaurants do not allow outside food
  • There are good restaurants/ coffee shops
  • Restrooms are clean and free of cost
