About Barzan Towers

The Barzan Towers were built in 1910 by the Emir of Qatar of that time. It was mainly constructed to act as a watch tower to keep a vigil over the soldiers who attacked the city. It is a beautiful piece of architecture. Apart from the towers, you will also find a mosque in the Barzan Towers area, which was also used as a school for students in the past. All in all, the place offers a rich experience of the past as well as the culture of Doha City.

How to reach

Take a taxi from Doha City Center and travel through the Al Duhail St.

Take Bus number 76 fro Al Ghanim bus station and change for bus number 102 from Al Thakhira. Get down at the Umm Salal Mohammed station and walk 10 mins to the Barzan Towers.

Tips

  • Do not carry big luggage with you as it gets inconvenient to move.
  • It is less crowded during the afternoon visiting hours.
  • Do not take photos where not permitted.
  • Always have an umbrella with you in case the heat becomes intolerable.
  • Carry water, bug repellent, sunscreen, umbrella and hat as most of the structures are in the open and under the sun.
  • Carry an ample amount of water to stay hydrated.
  • Wear comfortable footwear and clothes to avoid any inconvenience.
  • Avoid staying here for too long as it will be a dehydrating experience.
  • Try visiting during early morning or evening.
