Shwedagon Pagoda is the most important Buddhist temple in Myanmar. The architecture is almost 2,500 years old. Its stupa is gold-plated. Further, the stupa is encrusted with 4,531 diamonds, the largest being a 72-carat diamond. It has enshrined the strands of Buddha's hair as well. It is considered to be the city's biggest tourist attraction. Visit in the early morning or late afternoon, for a less-crowded view in this great piece of religious architecture.
