About Hlawga National Park

Hlawga National Park is a nature park situated in Mingaladon Township, in the north of Yangon, Myanmar. The park is situated 22 miles (35 km) north of the city of Yangon. The 1540-acre park has an 818-acre wildlife park. Also, it includes a 62-acre mini-zoo and a 660-acre buffer zone. The park is not only meant to house the Burmese indigenous wildlife but also to protect the flora in the catchment area of the Hlawga Lake.

Must See

You can rent a hut for 5,000 kyat or a chalet for 20,000 kyat in the National Park. The safari drive is cheap and extremely entertaining.

How to reach

Half an hour drive from the city. The taxi may cost between 1,600 kyats to 2,000 kyats. The Circular Train takes 1 h 14m but it costs only 900 kyats to 1,400 kyats.

Tips

  • Take a safari drive as it is not that pricey.
  • The bathrooms may not be that hygienic.
  • It's better if you carry your own food.
