From a distance, the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan is a striking building located at the Independence Square. It is the newest museum in Asia, built-in 2014. the largest museum in Central Asia, which is centrally located, and stands next to the Independence Palace, the Palace of Peace and Harmony, and the Hazrat Sultan Mosque With its blue glass and white marble, the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan is a striking display and covers the history and culture of Kazakhstan from ancient to modern times. The museum was established in the framework of the Cultural Heritage State Programme on behalf of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev. The museum is a complex of seven white blocks, the main of which has complete walls of turquoise glass windows.
On the inside, the museum has seven halls: Hall of Astana, Hall of Independent Kazakhstan, Hall of Gold, Hall of Ancient and Medieval History, Hall of History, Ethnography Hall, and Hall of Modern Art. Each hall aims to interact with visitors with modern screens, holograms, and touch-technology. The museum has developed various kinds of excursions such as survey and thematic, philosophical, special programs in the form of interactive sessions and gaming excursions. The museum in Astana uses modern exhibition technology, which meets world standards. Its aim is to become a modern intellectual cultural institution to make its visitors active participants in the conversation with the country's history.
The main attraction featuring at its entrance is a giant golden eagle with flapping wings that floats under the ceiling. The eagle is a symbol of freedom, fidelity, and courage. Learn about the culture and heritage of Kazakhstan through the Research Institute, art center, restoration workshops, scientific library, and laboratories. The museum’s ultimate goal is to encourage reflection and discussion of Kazakhstan's history. History doesn’t need to be behind glass.
