There are so many exemplary attractions to see in the city of Nara. Be sure to have a busy itinerary while in the city. In addition to the Isuien Garden, Horyuji Temple, and Tōdai-ji be sure to also visit the Nara Park. This huge park is a very popular tourist attraction in the city. What makes it unique is that there are hundreds of deer roaming freely throughout the park! How amazing is that?
The locals consider the deer to be messengers of the gods. They have been designated as a national treasure and have become the symbol of the city. What is endearing is that some of the deer have learned to bow to tourists to feed them! What a unique experience would this be? They have to be fed only deer crackers, which are available for sale at many locations across the park.
Imagine the experience of walking alongside these beautiful and dainty creatures!
