Musee de Louvers entices the visitors with its magnificent charm as evidenced by its alluring triangular glass structure. The museum has various floors displaying impressive art, artifacts, and sculptures. It was once the official residence of the royal family. The museum which originated in the 18th century has two wings with pavilions and galleries in the west with extensive quadrilaterals encompassing the buildings. 

It houses offices, shops, exhibition and storage spaces. This glass-roofed interior courtyard displays decorative art, Islamic art, and famous paintings. The architecture is uniquely designed with an orientation towards glass and steel. The museum designed by Japanese architects started with the sole mission of improving the economy of the place. The museum also caters to the hunger pangs of its visitors with the various cafeterias serving delectable food.

How to reach

By Bus: It will take 12 minutes to reach the museum from the city center. Take Line 39/ Line 74. The fare will be around 2 Euros

By Taxi: It is a 5-minute drive and will cost 5 to 6 Euros

The museum is 2 km from the city center and can be reached by foot too

Tips

  • Wear comfortable shoes and clothing as there is a lot to walk and explore
  • The historical museum is wheelchair accessible
  • The triangular structure of the glass is the distinguishing feature of the building. Check it out
  • Photography may be restricted
  • If you are with children, it is wise to use a stroller
  • All visitors must attend security checks 
  • Suitcases and large bags are prohibited 
  • The public may be confined or evacuated to secure areas in case of emergencies
  • From January 2019, the museum is open free for all visitors on the first Saturday of each month, from 18:00 p.m. and until closing at 21:45 p.m.
  • The museum is closed on Tuesdays and other public holidays
  • Please check the events calendar for updates before your visit
  • Pets are not allowed inside
  • Food and drink is not to be taken into the building
  • Always keep a valid ID handy
