About Saint-Roch

Saint-Roch, the neighborhood which used to be Quebec City’s principal comer street, is now a hip and happening downtown area filled with food, culture, technology, and fashion. The nightlife is popping with many bars and pubs that let you keep the night’s fun rolling after finishing a play or a concert. With the city’s biggest church and tons of places to visit, Saint-Roch is definitely a neighbourhood worth visiting. It is even worth staying in with plenty of hotels to choose from. During winter, Saith-Roch is illuminated by a beautiful 15 m Christmas tree.

How to reach

By car/cab: Although you could just go to Saint-Roch by foot as it is very close to the city center, in case you can't, it will take you about 4 mins to reach via Rue Saint-Joseph Est as it is 550 m away.

By foot: From the city center, it will take about 4 mins to walk to Saint-Roch neighbourhood via Rue Saint-François Est and Rue Saint-Joseph Est as it is 300 m away.

By Bus: via Montreal $50 - $69

Tips

  • Saint-Roch is very walkable and a steep 1 km walk downhill from Upper Town so try to rely on your feet in this area to really enjoy stopping by and visiting various shops and sites.
  • Be sure to visit some of the original beer breweries on this street.
  • Wear comfortable shoes.
  • Spare some shopping time while visiting this area as there are smaller boutiques and bigger brands to choose from, along with gourmet grocers offering local specialties to delight your stomach.
  • Be sure to take fully charged phones/cameras with you as there are graffiti walls to take pictures with on Saint-Roch.
