About Lake Atanasovsko

Lake Atanasovsko is an amazing pink lake in Burgas. This is entirely natural and an important site for wildlife. There are a total of 316 bird species found in the area. For more than 100 years the lake has not only been used by the birds, but by people to extract valuable salt.

How to reach

Head towards the north Varna / Burgas airport. Immediately after the bridge cross over the lake, take the off-ramp. Then, continue on the small road and start seeing pink on your right-hand side. Keep going until reach to the parking lot, about a 10-minute drive. There are buses to Burgas about once an hour but can be check with the departure times on BusRadar, which is usually pretty reliable. Taxi to the pink lakes can make you pay them to wait for you as it will not be easy to get a taxi on the way back.

Tips

  • Admission to the pink lakes and salterns is free
  • Paid parking costs 1 lev per hour. Unpaid options can also be explored
  • There is a bathroom that you can access at a cost of 50 stotinki. In order to avail the facility of the shower, it costs an additional 50 stotinki per 2 minutes of hot water
  • Ensure to rinse off the mud first and just use the shower to freshen up
