About The Belvedere Palace

While at Vienna, visit the Belvedere building complex which is a stately and majestic monument that will truly leave a lasting impression. It is complete with the Upper and Lower Baroque Palaces, the Orangery, the Park, and the Palace Stables. The two Baroque palaces were constructed in the18th Century to serve as a summer retreat for Prince Eugene of Savoy. The buildings are set in a Baroque park landscape. It houses the Belvedere museum. The grounds are set on a gentle gradient and include fountains, cascades, Baroque sculptures, and majestic wrought iron gates. A UNESCO World Heritage Site today, it contains the world's greatest collection of Austrian art and famous masterpieces by renowned international artists.

Another Baroque palace gem in Vienna's skyline, the Schloss Belvedere is lined with some of the magnificent paintings in the world. One of these is The Kiss by Gustav Klimt, which sees hoards of tourists every single day. The palace displays many paintings by Klimt, Monet, and Van Gogh, among other equally illustrated artists. Even if you aren't a lover of art, the palace grounds and the museum offer you intelligently designed gardens, cascade fountains, and basins. Walk around this eighteenth-century palace, and let its beauty consume you, the way it has consumed so many Austrian artists and writers.

Schloss Vaduz is the official residence of the incumbent prince of Liechtenstein. The beautiful palace was built somewhere in 1322 and its purpose was to act as a fortress for trade through the Alpine pass. The Palace was once burnt down during the Swabian War of 1499. The palace was reconstructed and the turrets were added to its structure. The tops of the turrets look like long hats that magicians wear which is a delight to view.

The palace is not accessible for the general public but for one day in the year which is the 15th of August. The general public is invited inside the castle and is served with many royal delicacies along with fine wine and drinks. One can rake amazing pictures of the great view of the Vaduz landscape that one gets from the palace.

The palace will definitely give you a feeling of magic as it is situated amidst the great Alps. The curves and curvature of every structure, arcs, ceiling, roof, etc, is simply worth your time. Though the palace was built in High Middle ages the architecture reeks of the medieval age as it was restored after it was burnt. The place is definitely worth a visit as it gives you a glimpse of the royal European history.
