About Hofburg Palace/Imperial Palace

The Hofburg Palace or Imperial Palace is one of the special tourist attractions of Vienna. If you don't visit this palace, your trip to Vienna will not be worth it. This unique palace is one of the largest palace complexes in the world. Known as the Power House of the Austrian Kings, this place still retains its tradition, culture, and glorious history which is unbelievable. Since 1279, Huffburg Palace has been a powerhouse of the Vienna kings. The oldest part of the palace was constructed in the 13th century, but the construction has continued right into this 20th century. Till 1917, it was the residence of the Austrian emperors and the main centre of state administration of Austria.  Hence, this place is rich with history that you can enjoy basking in.

Situated at the heart of Austria, the palace is now the workplace of the Austrian president and also the functional headquarters of several of the government's ministries. Apart from this, The Hofburg Palace also contains numerous museums with plenty of rare collection like Imperial Treasury Vienna and other priceless collectables. You can also find a few art galleries. Previously, the winter residence of The Austrian king', this palace now serves as Spanish Riding School and congress centre of Vienna.

How to reach

The Hofburg is one of the big places of Vienna, and the Hofburg palace is located centre of Vienne

Arriving by car

 After leaving Vienna International Airport, you can take the A4 motorway to reach directly to the Hofburg. It is about 25 km

Arriving by train

Reach Westbahnh,  the western railway terminal; which is just 15 minutes by train through eastbound U3 (orange) underground line

It will take you around 25 minutes from Meidling through train

By Bus

The best option is 1A or 2A to Michaelerplatz or you can go 48A to Ring/Volkstheater, this is just a 30-minute journey.

Single ticket price for boarding a bus, tram or metro is € 2.40
For children and dogs the cost is € 1.20 and for seniors over 62 years is € 1.50.
Tip: Get a day pass for unlimited rides. 

By taxi

If you prefer to take a taxi, the Taxi fare € 8.83 to €11.18. You can reach in 6 minutes

Tips

•    No luggage is allowed inside The Huffburg Palace like tourist bags, suitcases, trolley, etc
•    Guided tours are available daily in German and English. Make use of this to enrich your knowledge
•    Antique and curio lovers can visit the shop located at the main gate of the palace, they have a huge collection of old souvenirs
•    Don't miss the coffee in the Café located in the heart of the Imperial Palace
•    Photography is allowed in the Imperial Silver Collection section but prohibited in other places
•    Admission slots can be booked in advance for group tours (10 or more people)
•    Ensure you have enough time to visit all the places. A 2-day trip is recommended
•    Respect the privacy of the other visitors

Adults:                                        € 15,00 including the audio guide.  Personal guide costs € 18,00 and for Sisi museum, the cost is € 34,00.

Children: (aged 6-18) :                € 9,00 including the audio guide. Personal guide costs € 10,50 and for the Sisi museum, the cost is € 21,00.

Students (aged 19-25):               € 14,00 including the audio guide. Personal guide costs € 17 and for the Sisi museum, the cost is € 31.

Physically Challenged:                € 14,00 including the audio guide. Personal guide costs € 17 and for the Sisi museum, the cost is € 31.
