Are you a connoisseur of arts? Then welcome to Albertina. The Albertina’s name comes from Count Albert von Sachsen-Teschen, one of Empress Maria Theresa’s sons-in-law. Originally a royal palace that has now been converted to a museum, it has approximately 65,000 drawings and approximately 1 million old master prints, as well as more modern graphic works, photographs and architectural drawings. Established in 1776, the museum today houses masterpieces from Da Vinci, Michaelangelo, Duerer, Raphael, and Rembrandt. One can also see the Batliner Collection, "From Monet to Picasso," which is on display on a permanent basis and showcases the masterpieces of the modern painters. The "Ruben to Makart" collection is also worth a mention.
The building is an architectural masterpiece, which is in Neo-Classical style replete with the majestic equestrian statue of Field Marshall Albrecht. The museum is very well presented with four floors of artwork. The top floors contain renovated furniture and photographs by an Austrian photographer.
