About Cockatoo Island

How to reach

Cockatoo Island has a regular ferry service from City Ferries, making it a daily affair. These depart from Barangaroo, Darling Harbour and Circular Quay as also the wharves all along F3 Parramatta River ferry route.

Tips

  • Day visitors can find locker facilities in Muster Station near Parramatta Wharf.
  • The better part of the island is wheelchair accessible both at the upper and lower portions.
  • There is a visitor center near the Parramatta Wharf
  • Please don’t bring the following onto the island:  
    -Alcohol
    -Portable BBQs
    -Animals (except guide dogs)
    -Skateboards and roller blades (bicycles and scooters are allowed)
    -Drones or remote controlled vehicles and aircraft  
  • Don’t smoke in buildings or within 5 metres of cafes
  • Do not enter construction areas
  • Do not climb on cliffs or historic structures
  • Fishing is prohibited from the island or within the exclusion zone
  • Avoid camping outside of the designated campground
  • Do not erect gazebos or marquees
  • Commercial activities or holding private functions is prohibited
  • Avoid playing amplified music, people may complain
