About Sacramento Colony

A UNESCO heritage site, this quaint little town is situated in South-Western Uruguay. A short ferry ride away from Buenos Aires, it is the most popular tourist destination. The place has played an important role in Uruguay’s history.

Most visitors spend only a day in the town. This increases the foot traffic. The place welcomes you with colourful facades, palm-fringed boardwalks and vine-draped shops. This laid-back place makes it a perfect holiday destination if you just want to relax and while away your time.

That being said, the town is not lacking in places to see and things to do. History becomes interesting as you explore the fortresses, churches and the lighthouse. With a single entry ticket, get to visit all the 7 museums where you get glimpses of history, nature and people of the town. You can also check out various day tour packages. The colony has mainly cobbled streets where you can enjoy a walking tour. The town also sells some interesting and unique souvenirs for you to take back.

You won’t’ regret taking time off to visit this beautiful place.
