About Sayyida Ruqayya Mausoleum

Sayyida Ruqayya Mausoleum is the final resting place of Muhammad's great-granddaughter, Sukayna. During the battle of Karbala, numerous people were made prisoners including little Sukayna who was only four years old at that time. Unfortunately, she died in prison captivity and was exhumed and moved here later. The mausoleum features decorative gold ornaments, bright blue tiles, and numerous windows. Women are allowed to enter only if they wear a black burka. A contrast to the current war situation of the country, Sayyida Ruqayya Mausoleum gives you a feeling of calmness, peace and spirituality.
