About Bulguksa Temple

Pillaged, Plundered, Burnt - Still Standing Tall; Destroyed over and over again, this ancient relic of the Silla dynastic was built in 528 during the Silla Kingdom, in the 15th year of King Beop-Heung's reign (514-540) and is today a Unesco World Heritage Site. If you want to stay overnight to experience Buddhist spiritualism, advance bookings have to be made on their website. Many cultural relics draw visitors to this important destination. The grounds are serene and call for meditation or introspection. The stone terraces, bridges and the two pagodas – Seokgatap (Pagoda of Sakyamuni) and Dabotap (Pagoda of Bountiful Treasures) facing the Daeungjeon reaffirm the fact that the Silla dynasty excelled in fine masonry work. The statue of Sakyamuni Buddha at Seokduram Grotto is not to be missed either.
