Gardens by the Bay is an unimaginable pleasure for the senses. Located adjacent to the Marina Reservoir, this state-of-the-art green space is contemporary, cutting edge and futuristic. Diverse species of plants from all over the world are displayed in a spellbinding vertical garden. The standout features are the Supertrees and their impressive skywalks. The park, which attracts tourists and locals alike, consists of three amazing waterfront gardens: Bay East Garden, Bay Central Garden, and Bay South Garden, which at 54 hectares, is the park’s largest.
If you ever wondered what it would be like if nature and technology colluded on an assignment , you have just got your answer. As a step in the direction of eco-tourism, the Supertree Grove is located in Gardens by the Bay, at Marina Bay Sands. These 12 trees, of 18 in total, are basically large tree-like structure that tower over the Gardens. The tallest of these trees is over 16 foot tall! They are essentially man-made vertical gardens, that perform most of the natural functions of trees. The trees support a variety of tropical flora and climbers that use its framework. They're also entirely solar powered so that the project harness the ample sunlight that the Singapore skies offer. The internal structure of the trees is designed to mimic natural functions of trees such as photosynthesis and ground water replenishment. Even if you aren't someone who is fascinated by this amalgamation of natural sciences, you will be awed by the massive structures and the view they offer. There is also OCBC skyway that that acts as a walkway between two of the taller trees. This walkway gives you the perfect view of the entire garden and the surrounding Marina Bay Complex. At night, the trees also delight you through the Garden Rhapsody, a night and sound show with coordinated themed music.
