About Lima Cathedral

This attraction is a Roman Catholic cathedral located in the Plaza Mayor. The Construction started in 1535, was renovated in 1687 and again after the damage caused by the big quake in 1746. It was almost destroyed and later on, it has undergone many reconstructions and transformations. The colonial structure and facade are retained. The interior of the Lima cathedral has a delicate vaulted ceiling and a checkerboard floor. There is a chapel decorated in a mosaic that holds the tomb of Francisco Pizarro, the founder of Lima.
