About Milford Sound

This renowned natural wonder guarantees a memorable and an adventure-filled day. Carved by glaciers of the ice ages, the place is described as the ‘eighth wonder of the world’ by Rudyard Kipling. Choose from a range of day and night cruises and tours to experience this stunning scenery and sounds. Its mountain peaks, dark waters and forest-clad cliffs are sure to leave anyone mesmerized.  The waterfalls cascading from over 1000 meters, is a sight to behold. The rains which frequent Milford Sound only multiplies this effect. There is also kayaking, diving or flight seeing for the adventurous types.  To get more of the vivid wilderness, opt for trekking or hiking on the Milford Track which begins at the north of Lake Te Anau. The journey ends with a boat trip from Sandfly Point to the Milford Sound wharf.
