Dominated by steep sides of snow-capped Southern Alps, deep lakes and glacier-carved valleys, this is one of the most dramatic and beautiful places of New Zealand. The name Fiordland is derived from the Scandinavian word ‘fjord’. This is a majorly hiking and walking destination as it is the best way to take-in and admire the breath-taking beauty of its mountains, lakes and the enormous valleys. The waterfalls cascading deep down the black fiords, the shimmering lakes and granite peaks are a treat to your eyes. The ancient rainforest untouched by mankind makes for a beautiful backdrop for a picture-perfect scenery.
