"With a name like Erg, a visitor might not expect much. It is true what they say about not judging a book by its cover. An erg is a short and sweet name for an area of a shifting sand dune from the Sahara.
Erg Chigaga is the largest erg in Morocco. With dunes ranging from 50m up to 300m, and stretching 56 km, there is nothing short and sweet about it.
Despite the size, Erg Chigaga is relatively difficult to find. Visitors who wish to camp can access the erg by camel or off-road vehicles by an old caravan trail. Traveling by camel takes around five days round trip. Visitors are advised to use a local guide to be able to find the semi-permit camps.
Book a visit into Erg Chigaga today to see the romantic landscapes admired by landscape painters and fine art photographers. "
