The Pyramid of the Sun is a large ancient building, found in Teotihuacan, Mexico, that dates as early as 200 CE. It is one of the most substantial buildings in Mesoamerica. The pyramid is 66 metres in height from the ground level and measures 220 by 230 metres at the base. The Aztecs, who stepped foot in Teotihuacan hundreds of years after the area was no longer inhabited, gave this landmark structure its name. Today, this historic structure is found in the centre of Teotihuacan along a street called “Avenue of the Dead,” right between Pyramid of the Moon and Ciudadela, and behind the imposing mountain Cerro Gordo. You should also take a look at the amazing collection in the British Museum. The Pyramid of Sun is a cultural heritage which is now managed by the World Heritage Committee. If you’re looking to step foot in rich history and culture, then The Pyramid of the Sun is worth a visit. It is truly something to behold!
