About National Museum, Male

National Museum of Male in the Maldives may look like an exhausted building gifted by the Chinese, but it certainly contains some of the oldest artefacts of history which trace few unusual and rare events that took place in the Maldives. During the protest against former president Nasheed in the year 2002, some religious groups broke the museum. They also destroyed some of the precious pieces kept inside the building. This 3-floor building was built back in the 17th century and is the first museum build in the country. Some of the rarest articles can be found here.
