The Museum of Macau protrudes above the Fortaleza do Monte hill as a square block surrounded on all sides by a moat, commonly known as the Macau Museum it boasts a huge display area, exhibiting items and souvenirs from different communities and nationalities. The museum prides itself as a premier institution offering an insight into the history and culture of the city and has become one of the most visited tourist attractions in Macau. It was opened for the public on April 18, 1998. Unlike other museums in Macau, it doesn’t have any specific theme. It was built to show the peaceful existence of different nationalities together during the past centuries in Macau. The huge exhibition floor is beautifully organised and the different exhibits are showcased in glass boxes with descriptions of the artefacts noted outside their compartments. Explore on your own or hire a guide but do not miss the opportunity to explore this gem.
As the Macau Museum is located within Monte Fort, you can reach there by following the steps to reach Monte Fort. You can go to Monte Fort by using public transport/own vehicle.
