About Rhinos At Solio Reserve

"Since 1970, the Solio Ranch has been a sanctuary for the rhinoceros of Kenya. The world’s first privately-owned reserve covers 17,500 acres. Thanks in part to their efforts, the population of black rhinos has grown again. Over 74 black and 155 rare white rhinos call Solio home. Many that have been bred there have been repopulated to other areas.

Nestled on the reserve is Solio Lodge, an exceptional place for visitors to stay to take in the Kenyan wildlife and landscape. The six luxurious rooms are designed for comfort and warmth with a fireplace to keep the nighttime temperatures at bay. The lodge is a hub of activities that include fishing trips into the mountains, hiking, and horseback riding. Travel operators offer safari tours around the reserve.

The rhinos live happily with zebras, giraffes, gazelles, and over 300 species of birds. On your visit, make sure to take a nighttime safari to catch the leopards, lions, and cheetahs on their nocturnal prowls.

Solio Ranch is a harmonious place to go when seeking a pampered adventure."
