About Gran Paradiso National Park

Italy is home to innumerable natural settings and scenic landscapes. It is possibly one of the most beautiful countries around the globe. With a plethora of places to visit, you will be spoilt for choice. Ensure that you add one more name to your bucket list of places to visit in Italy – the Gran Paradiso National Park. The park is located to the south-west of the Valle d’Aosta region. This is the first national park of the country and was set up in 1922 by King Vittorio Emanuele III. The park is also a preservation location for endangered ibex. There is an interesting history associated with the park. Back in 1821, there was an alarming rate of decrease in the ibex species as a result of hunting. In an attempt to save this dying species, the royal family declared hunting them illegally. As a result of this, these animals are still around in today’s date. Apart from housing these rare creatures, the park is also well-known for its gorgeous landscape of mountains, valleys, glaciers, and streams, among others. It is very easy to lose oneself in the calm and serenity of this picturesque nature.
