The next attraction on our list is nothing short of a still from a blockbuster movie. Walking amidst the ruins of the ancient city of Akragas may make you feel like Nicholas Cage in the movie ‘National Treasure.’ What’s interesting is that the Valley of Temples is an actual national treasure and the main attraction of the town of Sicily. Perhaps, the most famous structure on the site is the Temple of Concordia. This is the best-preserved structure and is almost intact since its construction in 430 BC. Apart from this, there are the Tempio di Hera, Tempio di Ercole, Tempio di Giove, and Tempio dei Dioscuri, among others. They are a standing testimony to the art and architectural style of Greece. Spread across an area of 1,300 hectares, this archaeological site comprises numerous temples as well as an area of the necropolis and sanctuaries outside the walls. Evidence suggests that in the 5th Century the foundation of the site was laid by the Akragas colony of ancient Greece.
It is 2.1 km away from the City Center.
