About Delphi Archaeological Museum

Yet another crucial museum of the country of Greece is the Archaeological Museum of Delphi. This museum displays the artifacts, life, and history of the Delphic sanctuary (that housed the popular ancient Greek oracle).

There is a wide variety of artifacts ranging from statues, sculptures and little objects that were given to the museum. Every item here has a story to tell about the religious and political life in the 8th Century.

You can expect to spend an entire afternoon in this two-story structure of 2,270 square meters. If you feel the need to take a short break, then step into the cafeteria for a quick snack to recharge your energy. There are 14 exhibition rooms, huge storerooms and numerous conservation laboratories for mosaics, pottery, etc. Remember to buy souvenirs for your friends and family from the museum gift shop on your way out.

How to reach

Delphi is small so, walking is the type of transportation required. 
Both the museum as well as the archaeological site are within walking distance from the town.
If Taxis are required, they are readily available.

Tips

  • Do visit the museum with a knowledgeable guide. This will not only give you more insight into the Greece civilization but bring the place to live too.
  • If you're visiting on a day that is too hot, see the ruins first, then visit the museum during the scorching midday hours. You will be under a roof.
  • If you do not mind the heat, best to visit earlier in the day as it will be quieter and you can avoid the crowd.
  • You are allowed to take photographs.
  • If you are looking for signage in English, it is there. 
  • Here washrooms and vending machine refreshments are available.
