"Come to Djibouti in Africa for a visit to the lowest point on the continent. Lake Assal is a saline lake situated 157 m (515 ft) below sea level, making it the third-most saline body of water in the world. Because of high evaporation and little to no outflow of water from the lake, Lake Assal is the largest salt reserve in the world.
Hot springs feed this crater lake. The drier section features a bed from which salt is quarried in slabs. From a distance, Lake Assal looks like friendly clear waters and white sandy beaches amidst a stark desert landscape. Its crystal blue water appears to change colour with the sunlight. It is the best place on earth to go for a lazy float.
Surrounded by dormant volcanoes and fields of black lava, Lake Assal is worthy of exploration."
