The construction of this museum dates back to the year 1511. This is considered as the most complete and informative museum, since you can get information right from 1492 til 1821. This has the Elizabethan Gothic style of architecture with a Renaissance Plateresque, and a military touch. Once you get to go inside the museum, you can discover maps, ancient tapestries, and many objects of colonial times. In 1976, the whole building was declared as the Royal House Museum. This has two attached buildings. One would function as the Palace of Governors, while the other is called Real Audiencia i.e. royal audience and accounts and has 2 floors and a total of 20 exhibition rooms. The first floor has different galleries like Discovery, Conquest and Evangelization, Piracy and Smuggling, Economy, Santa Bárbara, Pharmacy and many others. There is also a cafe and temporary exhibition held here. The second floor consists of a gallery of Audiencias, Weapons Room, exhibitions about Accounts and Legislation, the Idol Main Office, General Captain Office, Family Life, Governors Great Room. You are bound to enjoy visiting this place.
