The Cathedral of Santa Maria La Menor is the first full-fledged cathedral in the Americas, which was completed in 1540. Santa Maria La Menor has become a major pilgrimage and tourism destination because of the Tomb of Christopher Columbus. This is considered as one of the Catholicism centres. Enjoy a tour of the interior of the church, which has a good collection of artefacts and treasures. Previously, the Tomb of Christopher Columbus was located just inside of the main entrance. The interesting part of the cathedral is the main altar, which had been initially constructed with silver. Other pieces of interest include furniture, artwork, and jewellery. You can see a lot of amazing artefacts, which are housed inside the museum within the cathedral. The imposing façade is constructed of coral limestone. The most notable feature is the spectacular double-arched entranceway. As you walk around, you'll notice that there are few windows in the church, even by Gothic standards and no one is quite sure why. Delve into the mysteries of the Cathedral when you're here.
