This botanical garden was first created in 1955 by one of the founders of the Austral University. This was done with the sole aim of housing and protecting the flora of the country.
This is now home to more than 950 species of trees divided into various sections. They all are duly registered and classified. As of now, work is in progress to transform this into a centre for research, education and culture. This aims to facilitate the transfer of knowledge to various social actors. The University of Austral is on its way to becoming a pioneer in the development of a complex botanical garden.
For visitors, it is a great place to enjoy some peace and quiet among the variety of trees. Enjoy a stroll, or just choose to sit on the benches and breathe in some fresh and pure air. You can also enjoy a lovely picnic by the riverside.
