Founded in 1892, this art museum started with paintings and art piece collection of painter and collector Edmond De Pratere. The Musse des Beaux-Arts d'Ixelles rapidly gained acclaim with its ever-growing impressive collection of art. The gallery now has a spectacular collection of objects of art from the 16th and 17th century to modern day creatives. This museum seems to be small at first glance until you start to visit the lower floors. It seems endless, especially the Magritte part of the museum hosting a magnificent variety of collector's items. With the display of masterpiece frames like "reconcilement" and "Eglise Antwerpen", the place sure knows how to keep the quality, sky high. The building with its striking interiors and a stunning view across the square is quite a visitors delight. With tastes of Spilliaert, Panamarenko, Ensor, Minne, Wouters, Magritte, and so on the museum boasts some of the world's outstanding artworks. Besides solace, to a creative eye, the place has many antique shops, cafes, gardens, churches, and other galleries to indulge in.
