About Devil's Throat

There are some places that are best experienced and not just documented with photographs or videos. Besides, a picture or glossy pages of a tourism magazine would never do justice to the sheer beauty and scale of certain locations. One such example is the Devil’s Throat, the tallest of the 275 waterfalls in Iguazú.

Standing in the sheer presence of this majestic waterfall is like taking a bath in the biggest shower of the world! It is an experience that cannot be described in words. The Devil’s Throat is a collection of over 200 cascades, dropping by more than 80 meters into an abyss resulting into an everlasting misty cloud!

Be sure that you leave behind all your electronics in the hotel room, and wear comfortable clothes. Because there is no escaping the showers or splashes from this grand waterfall!

  • To enjoy an adventerous trip, go for a walk inside the cave and exit at the top.
  • Morning visits may afford you rainbows in the mist at the top of the devil's throat.
  • You can also enjoy a safari tour and boat ride along some regions.

How to reach

It is located inside the Iguazu national park which is about 17 kms from Puerto Iguazu. you can take bus no 120 that is available for every 15 minutes from  Puerto Iguazu which would cost 5 ARS. 

Tips

  • ID and passport are necessary while purchasing a ticket.
  • Pack your electronics and other valuables in waterproof bags.
  • It will be cold inside the cave so wear a jackets.
  • It is recommended to go between July and October or February and April to experience a good weather.
  • Steps will be steep and slippery, so be carful while you walk
  • You're expected to carry your own water bottles and snacks.
  • Wear proper boots or hiking shoes.
  • Purchase ticket online or only from the ticket counter, not anywhere else.
