A visit to Po Nagar Tower won’t take long, but it is guaranteed to be impactful. The Po Nagar is a complex with a temple built by the Champa Kingdom around 774 AD near Nha Trang. The complex is built on three levels. Two rows of towers are built on the highest level. The tallest tower is 75 feet high. It is believed the temple constructed of stone and brick was the first of its kind. The temple is dedicated in honor of Yan Po Nagar, said to have founded the Cham people. Yan Po Nagar was identified with the four-armed Hindu goddess Durga, the slayer of the buffalo demon. Statues and stone-relief decorations of Yan Po Nagar adorn the temple, holding a hatch and club over a buffalo. The other towers were dedicated to Ganesh and Shiva.
This is a spiritual place, so be sure to remove your shoes when entering and wear respectful clothing.
Ponagar Tower is 4.1 km from city center Nha Trang
