While there, make it a point to go to the most popular tourist destination of the city – the Kamianets-Podilskyi Castle. An interesting fact is that the UNESCO Culture has listed the now National Historical-Architectural Reserve "Kamianets-Podilskyi" in the UNESCO list of world heritage! It checks all the boxes for you to make a beeline for this famous tourist attraction.
The glorious stone castle is located against a scenic hillside across the winding Smotrych River, making it a sight for sore eyes. This is one of the best-preserved medieval castles in Europe. With its original construction dating back to the 14th Century, the castle has been rebuilt and remodeled numerous times since then. Because nature, as well as people, played a huge role in its construction, the castle has gained the reputation of being “built by God’s hand.”
At one time in the past, the castle was said to have featured around 12 towers. But, only 7 towers remain as of today. Take your time soaking up the beauty and awe of the castle and its towers from the outside. Following which, step inside and take a walk across the dank dungeons, battlements, dark corridors, stone passageways, etc. that will impress even the toughest castle fanatic.
