About Swiss National Park

For more Swiss Family Fun, go to the Swiss National Park, one of the first national parks in Europe, and now the only national park in Switzerland. It is also the largest protected area of the country and is part of the Worldwide UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. It is a strict nature reserve dogs are not permitted, you may not leave the pathways, disturb the flora and fauna, or light a fire or sleep outside the Chamanna Cluozza (the mountain hut in the park). How to reach

The National Park is easily accessible by public transport, you can take Ratische Bahn.

You can take charter carriages by Rhaetian Railway, which comes to Zernez via Landquart, from Zernez you can take a bus to reach the park.
Private cars are allowed in the park.

Tips

  • Don't leave the marked footpaths.
  • It is not permitted to remove any flora/wood from the park.
  • Do not disturb animals/ fish residing in the park.
  • Smoking/ fires are not permitted,
  • Overnight camping/parking is not permitted.
  • Make sure you have in your backpack a protective sunscreen, sunglasses, rainwear and drinking water.
  • Walking shoes or mountain boots with a good sole are recommended for most routes.
  • For hiking, visit the place early.
  • Check the weather forecast before setting out.
  • The hiking trails in the park are not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.
  • Guided excursions are generally conducted in German.
